Mo’s problems aren’t unique to Mo. By creating solutions to them that can be scaled up, many more people could be helped, people who are having difficult experiences, are in transition, or have unmet support needs. Ideally, these solutions will serve as an effective response to many of the big, hard problems in the world today: poverty, homelessness, poor health, disability, and a shrinking middle class, and do so in a way that is good for the environment and improves everyone’s quality of life.
From the beginning, Mo wants to organize people into teams to get what they need as a group at a lower cost and for less time and effort. and to serve as accountability partners to each other, do important tasks well, and develop friendships, romances and communities. We’ll look at structures in which we can share things, our labor, and our income to lower our cost of living, raise our quality of life, and correct deep inequities between people.
Within Story Teams, some of these teams will be responsible for a part of Mo’s monthly budget, which they intend for Story Teams to manage entirely through a financial liaison. Some budget categories are: food and kitchen, clothes/shoes (including their care), travel, lodging, personal care, housekeeping, media, home goods, transportation (including bikes) and sporting goods (for hiking, camping, and recreational sports).
If members decide to, teams could reorganize into Mo’s concept for a mutual-benefit nonprofit corporation, “Get On A Team”, and offer food, things, and services as shares within it. Mo is neither a lawyer nor accountant though, so we’ll need to discuss the possibility and viability of these ideas with people qualified to judge them.
